2011 Golden Gala of Athletics in Rome
A spectacular event, a three hour convention of athletics at the highest levels: the Golden Gala of Rome, voted in 2005 "the best meeting on the planet," and considered the height of the Golden League.
The Golden League competitions have always attracted the best athletes in the world.
The Gala was born in 1998, when the IAAF brought together seven of the most prestigious meetings of light athletics in Europe in order to create the IAAF Golden League.
There are nearly 10 competitions on the schedule: among them 100 meter, 400 meter, 3000 meter, 5000 meter, 100 meter hurdles, javelin throw.
For sports lovers, the evening will be aglow with excitement.
The first Golden Gala of Rome was held in 1980 after the Moscow Olympics, with 208 athletes from 21 countries competing.
The event was an incredible success, drawing 60,000 spectators, a record unbroken to this day.
